Welcome family and friends!

This blog is dedicated to sharing photographs and historical documents relating to Peter Wayne Selner and his family and descendants. Many of these photographs were collected by my grandmother, Marian (Dawson) Selner (1913-2001) and have been passed down to me. Some are identified and some are not. They are posted in no specific order.

If you have any information about the photographs posted here, can identify people, places, or dates, or if you believe they are misidentified, please be sure to share your thoughts in the comments section. If you have a memory of the people or subject of the photograph, we would all enjoy reading that as well.

If you have Selner photos or documents to share and would like them posted, please email them to me at
kayomaxb@aol.com.

New items will be posted as I get them scanned and formatted so check back often to see what's new!

Tombstone Peter & Elizabeth Selner

Tombstone of Peter and Elizabeth Selner. Peter's death certificate lists the cause of death as chronic valvular heart disease, 10 years duration. His death occured at the home of Harriet Bechtel of Wakarusa, with who he had boarded for about a year. He had suffered considerably for about six months prior to his death. He had not been able to lay down in bed since the previous Christmas, having to sleep sitting in a chair. On the day of his death, his health had partially deranged his mind and he became hard to control requiring constant attention by two men overnight. The next afternoon he grew calmer and seemed better. He proceded to visit the well to get himself a drink and then went to a small building. His attendants followed him some ten minutes later and upon entering they found he had died. Peter Selner's death occured on 29 April 1923. His funeral was held at the Olive Schaum Church in Elkhart County, Indiana and he is buried in the church cemetery.
